Primary Case Management
Dr. Michael Lovasz is an experienced per diem board certified veterinary anesthesiologist specializing in safe and effective anesthesia services for animals. Peripheral Nerve Blocks:
Local anesthetic administration when correctly performed, acts to reduce your pet’s general anesthesia requirement while also reducing the transmission of pain to the region blocked. An anesthesiologists can recognize the indications for local block administration, the correct administration of the block, and ensure that your pet benefits the most by reducing their anesthesia requirement, and facilitate a smoother recovery. Many blocks can be administered with the use of either an ultrasound, a peripheral nerve stimulator, or a combination of the two.
Practice Evaluation:
Dr. Lovasz can be available to observe how anesthesia is performed at your practice while providing feedback, case review, and equipment inspection.
Case Work-Up & Consultation
Need some advice on a case or protocol choice? Sometimes, unpredictable emergencies occur. Even if circumstances prevent Dr. Lovasz from being there physically, he is still available to provide guidance. Your veterinarian can arrange to have a telecommunication where Dr. Lovasz will thoroughly review your pet’s medical history, develop a targeted anesthesia plan as a guide for your veterinarian, and be available by phone if issues arise during the procedure.
Due to volume of requests, we do typically need 48 hours from time of receipt of all records to develop and return a plan for your patient. A STAT fee can be arranged in some cases for 24 hour turnaround.
Continuing Education:
Anesthesia, sedation and targeting fear, anxiety and stress continues to evolve in the veterinary field. Dr. Lovasz is proud to offer both veterinarians and technicians up to date methods of administering safe and effective sedation, analgesia, anesthesia. Other topics include intervention techniques when facing intraoperative complications. By staying up to date with anesthesia related topics, the anesthesia provider in your practice is endowed with knowledge, confidence, transitioning to a better anesthesia event.
As a service we can offer to provide in-house training via lectures, or hands-on interactive sessions.
How can I arrange to have an anesthesiologist for my pet's procedure?
The best way is to inform your veterinarian of your interest in this service and have them contact us. Most veterinarians in the area do not know they can have this service offered to them. We work on an appointment-only basis. Between you, your veterinarian, and us, we will schedule a day that works best for everyone's schedule.
